Organizations were formed at the end of Ottoman Era and in the first period of the Republic in order to fight tuberculosis which spread significantly at the time. Fighting the pandemic diseases were one of the priorities in health policies of the Republic from the very beginning. The state endeavored to fight tuberculosis efficiently by instituting regulations besides supporting the establishment of anti- tuberculosis organizations and health institutions. It appears that the anti-tuberculosis associations founded in 1940s as a part of the fight against tuberculosis under the Law on Organizations focused their efforts against the disease in cooperation with the government. New hospitals, sanitariums, dispensaries were established, and diagnostic and treatment works were conducted in different parts of the country as a part of the fight against the disease.
