The Revolution and the Civil War in Soviet Author E. Isaak Babel’s “Konarmia” Stories

Abstract

In this essay it is mentioned that a Jewish Soviet author E. Isaak Babel. He was a correspondent and a soldier during the Civil War period, and his “Konarmiya” stories were based on his fighting observations. So we stand on the theme; “Revolution and the Civil War” in those stories. Revolution and the Civil War, which started just after the First World War, affected Russia and the Russian people deeply. Poverty, physical and mental exhaustion from fighting, lack of material and bad weather conditions caused human tragedy and they were showed clearly in those storties; For this reason, in this study, we want to show how this bad conditions, which are explained in “Konarmiya”, affected people and their lives in that period.
